What is a CSA program?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. This is a program that connects you directly with your local farm! By purchasing a share of our harvest early in the year, you’ll enjoy a weekly supply of fresh, organic produce for the duration of our CSA season. Your upfront commitment helps us to plan ahead each growing season and is a great way to support local farms.
Frequently asked questions
Our 2026 CSA is broken into two 10-week sessions. Session 1 runs from June 18th-Aug 20th, and Session 2 runs from August 27th-Oct 29th. You can sign up for one session or both!
Typically, there are around 8 different produce items in the weekly box. The following is an example box from the 2024 season:
1 Bunch of Rainbow Carrots
1 Bunch of Green Kale
1 Bunch of Red Radish
1 Green Leaf Lettuce
2 Green Zucchini
2 Slicing Cucumbers
1/2 Pound of Tomatillos
1/2 Pound of Sugar Snap Peas
Our CSA will consist almost entirely of vegetables. We do grow strawberries and melons at our farm- both of which are short and unpredictable crops. You will likely get a pint of strawberries in 1 or 2 boxes at the start of Session 1, and maybe a small melon in 1 or 2 boxes of Session 2. Otherwise, it's all veggies!
This year we are adding a new option for CSA members who will be picking up at the farmstand! They can either have a prepacked box, or- when you come to the farmstand you can select 8 items of your choice from the produce that is grown on our farm. When you go into the walk-in cooler, all bins will be labelled with a “CSA” tag, so you know which items you can pick from, as well as the parameters for that item. For example, the bin of curly kale would say “CSA, 1 bunch”. The bin of zucchini would say “CSA, 2 each”. The bin of snap peas would say “CSA, 1/2 lb.” Members can select and bag up their own produce and then take it home in your own re-usable shopping bag, or we have paper and compostable bags you can use.
CSA members will need to select before the season starts which option they would like and then stick with it for the whole session- so we know how may boxes we needed to pack each week.
*This option is only available if you select the farmstand as your pick-up location! Members who pick up at all other host sites will receive a prepacked box each week.
Yes, all the produce in your box will be from our farm. Only if absolutely necessary would we supplement from other local organic farms to ensure quality and variety throughout the season.
The cost for each 10-week session is as follows:
Farmstand pick-up - $300
Delivery to a host site - $350
Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds or credits for missed weeks. If you can't pick up your box, you can gift it to a friend or neighbor and let them know where to pick it up! Any boxes that are not picked up will be donated.
If you are picking up your box at the farmstand you can pick it up during the following hours- Thurs 10-7, Fri 10-5, Sat 10-5. If you are picking up from a home host site, we ask our hosts to keep the boxes available out on the porch until 9pm on delivery day (which is Thursday each week). After that they are free to donate or keep it. You can reach out to your host to see if you can make other arrangements but that is at their discretion. For host sites that are at businesses, boxes are available to pick up on Thursdays until closing time- check your host site location to confirm their closing time.
There are 2 options to receive your CSA box.
Pick up at the Farm Stand
Pick up at a host location
Host locations are places in the community who have volunteered to be a drop spot for CSA boxes. This can be a house, business, apartment or condo complex, or city/county building. In order to be a host location, you need to have a minimum of 5 boxes dropped off weekly. The most effective way to ensure you meet the 5-box requirement is to be a community advocate for the CSA program. Reach out to your friends and neighbors, customers, or community members to build the interest, then let us know that you are ready to host!
For more information on being a host location visit https://www.soundsfarms.com/csahost
If you are a host site and you have at least 5 members, you can receive your CSA membership for 50% off. If you have 10 members, you will receive a free CSA membership for yourself! We appreciate you helping us to build our CSA program and reduce our delivery carbon footprint.
Most host locations do not have cold storage for their boxes. We accept hosts who have a full-shade location that is away from pets, and accessible to CSA members. Delivery days and times will be fairly consistent every week so it is recommended that people pick up their boxes at your location as soon as possible after delivery.
We ask that all "home" host sites keep boxes available until 9pm on the day of delivery. If a box is not picked up by then and you haven't heard from the member, feel free to keep or donate the box to another neighbor!
*Businesses that are host sites will need to keep their boxes available during business hours.
